Newborn Photo Shoot with big sister

I’ve photographed Phoenix since a newborn and it was lovely that Zoe & Luke came back with their second daughter Texa. Phoenix is such a lovely big sister and couldn’t wait to give her a cuddle! & Texa was very chilled out. It really was a lovely relaxing session! x

Toddler Photo Shoot..

Aww Millie, I’ve photographed her since a newborn and this was her last baby shoot. It makes me sad when they finish, because it’s amazing seeing this little bundle of joy bought in and then by the end of the three shoots they are a little person! I photographed another newborn today and I’ll be on the same journey with this little one, which is pretty special x

19th of August… Outdoor Shoots

In the last couple of years I have been asked (a lot) if I do outdoor shoots. My answer has always been no, my studio was really busy and there really wasn’t time & I didn’t like the idea of photographing outside with changing light, unpredictable weather, the list goes on. Then i started to really notice this trend toward outdoor shoots wasn’t going away, in fact it was getting more popular. So I started to practice with my family. My poor nieces and nephews must groan when I get my camera out, but they let me carry on anyway. It turns out that I’m actually really enjoying these outdoor shoots, there is more freedom for the children, which is what they want, and its easier for me to capture those natural pictures, which is always my favourite part. So, I think it will be added to my price list and I’m excited about the new challenges outdoor shoots will bring.

Newborn Shoot with baby Alfie

Lovely newborn shoot on Saturday. It really can be challenging but honestly when you see the pictures it is so rewarding. You’ve captured that little one at a time that is over in the blink of an eye. More than that seeing the pictures afterwards reminds you of how little they were, it triggers those memories and it always will. There can be nothing more special than that! x

Deckled edge Fine art print framed…

I have spent the morning putting this together. It’s a beautiful fine art print, printed onto hahnemuehle paper. The print is then carefully torn using a special tool which gives it a deckled edge. I love the texture this adds to the picture and I think its quite unique with photographs, certainly around here. Its then hidden mounted onto to acid free mount board – which protects the print and stops acid eventually burning through the picture. A mount is then put behind this and spacers are placed behind the glass, giving it some depth and making sure the picture never touches the glass. Finally the moulding is put around the picture, glass is added, and volia you have a beautifully finished product. This is a bespoke product and fairly labour intensive using the best quality materials. I wanted something that suits the natural feel of my pictures and I also wanted something that would go on the wall, that you could not just buy anywhere! I think this fits the bill. I’m selling this for £175, the frame is 16″ x 20″ but with the ornate moulding around it is is more like 20″ x 25″.deckled-edge-fine-art-picture

Fathers Day 2015. June 25th

I spent Sunday with my family, it was a beautiful sunny day so we were all in the garden. I would like to do more outdoor shoots, I adore landscape photography and I think if I could combine the two (family photography and landscape photography) I would love it! So, out came the camera for a practice. I really enjoyed it, especially watching the children with the bubbles! It was a special day, there were lots of laughs and I think you can see it in the pictures x

Maisey

Beautiful Maisey, a family friends newborn. It was lovely to be able to photograph and spend some time with this little one. She was so sensitive, every time she was touched her moro reflex jumped into action, so we had to really take our time and make sure she was wrapped. I tried out my nest for the first time and love it! xIMG_1191

George & Harry

I love seeing this family, I’ve photographed George since he was a baby & now I’m photographing his little brother Harry. It’s really nice that they have kept coming back to me, not only do I appreciate their loyalty, but you build up a relationship which makes the little ones easier to photograph. George even posed and I have noticed that some of the other children that I have photographed as babies and toddlers do the same. & this picture… I just think is so cute!

Scarlett, newborn shoot

I’m still absolutely adoring newborn sessions. They are not easy, because you might have finally placed baby in position and something startles them even ever so slightly and they are out of position and you have to start again. I just roll with it now and try my best to just go with baby, find a position comfortable for them and keep them warm and wrapped which helps them feel safe and secure.

I think because there is just so much love from the parents it radiates out, I have always found it an honour to spend this precious time with babies and I still do. When newborns look at you you know that you are one of the first people apart from family and close friends they have gazed upon. There is something so humbling about that.

Scarlett was so alert, she just looks serene in this picture and how cute that her hands are clasped, just wonderful!IMG_0428
